Title: Ask The Game Masters!
Description: Q&A about the Ace Lightning video game.
Rotgut - July 5, 2005 04:10 PM (GMT)
Okay partners. Since half of the ALFs haven't even played the game yet  I have decided to open this topic. Any questions you need to know about the game, then you've come to the right zombie... I mean Walking Dead! (And no questions like "Who were the level designers?"). And besides, if I can't answer a question, or you find me unreliable, then you can always turn to that hyper, psychotic maniac: Hyperpsychomaniac!
So come on partners, give me (or H.) your zany questions!
Scarab Dynasty - July 5, 2005 08:09 PM (GMT)
This could be interesting, thanks RG :)... does H know about this though?
Actually I really DO wanna know who the level designers were :s... I wish we could find it on the web. And did any of the people who made the game also work on the tv series? There must have been at east some collaboration between the two, which probably resulted in show-Ace's hatred of gnoems, and of coruse the fact that Sparx is on the booklet when she's not in the game *mutter-mumble...*
Hey there's a good question: Does Michael Riley do the voice of the ingame Ace as well as the tv one?
Sarah Frost - July 5, 2005 09:26 PM (GMT)
Thanks, RG, this is going to be really helpful. :)
How does any dialogue run in the House of Illusion level?
hyperpsychomaniac - July 6, 2005 09:41 AM (GMT)
Ace sounds pretty right to me, I think it's Michael Riley. Some of the other characters are done by other people though, they don't all sound quite right.
Rotgut - July 6, 2005 05:19 PM (GMT)
Michael Riley could possibly be voicing Ace in the game, or someone who is very good at impersonating. Lord Fear, Dirty Rat, Googler and Lady Illusion are voiced by different people. I am not so sure about Pigface or Anvil. Random is voiced not by whoever is his voice actor in the show, but is voiced by the bloke who voice's Ace in the game! The minions who just yell, are mainly voiced by one man and woman.
As for your question, Sarah, if you mean by the script of the scenes in the House of Illusion, then here they are. (I cannot remember them entirely, so maybe Hyperpsychomaniac can assist you...). Oh, and the events in the game are in comic strip formation.
==Entering the House of Illusion==
Lord Fear: So, Ace Lightning has stumbled upon the House of Illusion. He may have defeated some of my imbeciles... but he may find Lady Illusion a bit more to handle!
Lady Illusion: Oh, I can't wait.
Ace: Sorry to crash the party, but Lady Illusion's illusions are all fakes.
Lord Fear: How dare you speak to my lady like that! Come my dear, let us watch Ace Lightning meet his end! Muhahahahahaha!
==Returning to the House of Illusion==
(Ace enters the foyer of the House of Illusions).
Ace: Back again! This place still gives me the creeps...
==Horror Hedgemaze==
Ace: This place gives me the creeps, and these guys are ugly!
(A garden gnome carrying a shovel and a wrake walks by and then faces Ace).
Gnome: Who are you calling ugly?
Ace: Sorry, I didn't know you were listening.
Gnome: That's okay, you handsome fellow you!
Ace: That's quite all--
(Ace blasts the gnome with lightning bolts and it is actually Lady Illusion in disguise).
Ace: Lady Illusion, you're a dead giveaway.
Lady Illusion: Later Ace Lightning, later!
Ace: Better luck next time, Lady Delusion!
==Drop Down Well Entrance==
(A piece of the Amulet floats above the well).
Ace: Yes! Another fragment of the Amulet is mine! Huh?
(The piece suddenly vanishes and Lady Illusion appears).
Lady Illusion: Nice try Ace, but this fragment is mine.
Ace: I must get that fragment!
(Ace leaps down the well).
==Drop Down Well Cavern==
Ace: I reached the bottom!
Voice: Gggggggggrrrrrooooaaahhhh!!!
(A lava monster appears).
Ace: Looks like I'm gonna have to deal with Lady Illusion's big boys, first.
==Freaky Funhouse==
Ace: "The House of Illusion". I wonder?
(There is an explosion and Ace covers his face as Lady Illusion appears).
Ace: Lady Illusion, I should have known!
Lady Illusion: Yes Ace Lightning, you should have. And it's lucky for you that I have a soft spot for you. 'Cause I never miss...unless I mean to.
Ace: Fear may fall for that Lady, but not me! I know you have a piece of the Amulet, and I intend to get it!
Lady Illusion: Oh, Ace! You do care!
==Boss Fight==
Ace: I have you now lady, give me your Amulet piece.
Lady Illusion: I do not think so loverboy!
(Lady Illusion throws an ORANGE crystal ball from her hand and it hits Ace).
Lady Illusion: You'll never get my piece of the Amulet, Ace. Never!
==Quotes in Boss Fight==
Lady Illusion: -Show me what you've got!
-You're a wimp, Ace!
-Why try to hit me, when you can kiss me!
-So tough, Ace. Picking on such an innocent little girl!
Ace: -Nice try, lady!
-You're powers are no much for mine!
==After Boss Fight==
Lady Illusion (on the floor): Why did you do that Ace?
Ace: You're hanging out in the wrong crowd, Lady Illusion. And thanks for the Amulet piece.
Lady Illusion: Take me with you, Ace! Take me with you! Do you hear me!?
(Ace walks off, pretending to not hear Illusion's screams)
The End :D

So that was actually in the game? Cool... so there was UST beforehand then...
Sarah Frost - July 7, 2005 12:52 AM (GMT)
I don't think the version of the game available in our universe is quite the same thing as gameverse-from-the-show. For one thing, it must be a really good game (since it's apparently extremely popular), and secondly, with regard to Ace and LI: Mark's line, ep 6, "nothing in the rulebook said THEY could fall in love" (against, say, 'He didn't like her in the game'); and what we see of LI in showverse doesn't exactly encompass soppy pleading. (She doesn't beg in canon. Ever. 'Explain', yes, and flirt, but none of this please stuff.) I think it works better thematically if in the game we have ColdHardBitch LI, who of course changed drastically thanks to the interdimensional transport.
Of course, this is partly because I find RG's transcription rather irritating from the perspective of a LI fan; the impression I have of her in canon is very far removed from this...idiot.
hyperpsychomaniac - July 7, 2005 05:49 AM (GMT)
One thing I find interesting in Ace/LI dialogue in the game vs. dialogue in the show is that in game it sounds like they're fighting disguised as flirting. In the show it's more flirting disguised as fighting. And for some reason I find that funny... probably because I like stuff getting flipped 'round.
Rotgut - July 7, 2005 04:44 PM (GMT)
Are you calling me or Lady Illusion in the game, an idiot?
Sarah Frost - July 7, 2005 09:43 PM (GMT)
LI in the game, Rotgut. I'm very grateful for the transcript, again thank you. :)
Rotgut - July 8, 2005 05:16 PM (GMT)
No problem partner. If ya want a full script of the game, than Rotgut happy to help.
Scarab Dynasty - July 8, 2005 08:45 PM (GMT)
Rotgut - July 9, 2005 11:39 AM (GMT)
You mean to tell me that you know the entire script of the video game, from beginning to end!? :o
Sarah Frost - July 9, 2005 11:53 AM (GMT)
No, she meant that she knew you'd be willing to help. :)
Rotgut - July 9, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
Scarab Dynasty - July 9, 2005 08:14 PM (GMT)
*giggle*
Hey, I was wondering, do you get to drive any vehicles in the game? I think it's a pity you don't get to at least lend the Lightning Flash... they don't even have sparx in it! :( *headdesk* and she would've been so cool to play as too.
hyperpsychomaniac - July 10, 2005 12:53 PM (GMT)
Gah! I wanted to ride the lightning flash! I had the whole system of controls worked out too! (for PS2) ;)
LightningFlash - July 11, 2005 03:25 AM (GMT)
Gah! That is so wrong!
Rotgut - July 14, 2005 04:29 PM (GMT)
The PS2 version of the game could possibly a director's cut to the PC game, which was the first of the three games to be released.
The PS2 version has more objects in the levels and the different areas of the circus level must be opened by activating Lightning Buttons. Items and enemies are in different places.
The graphics are much better as well.
Scarab Dynasty - July 15, 2005 01:22 AM (GMT)
Yes PS2 was top notch for graphics, bound to be better than PC unless you had a top notch machine.
I wish I had found it :'(
hyperpsychomaniac - July 15, 2005 02:49 AM (GMT)
*dances* I knew I did the right thing getting the PS2 version!
Rotgut - July 15, 2005 02:40 PM (GMT)
You can always check amazon.co.uk and buy the Ace Lightning PS2 game form there, if you have a playstation that is!
Scarab Dynasty - July 15, 2005 05:52 PM (GMT)
Not allowed to buy on the net, at least not until I bother cashing in for my own credit card. :(
Rotgut - July 16, 2005 09:19 AM (GMT)
That's not very fair. Why are parents so mean these days?
Scarab Dynasty - July 16, 2005 06:55 PM (GMT)
Because my mother has a fear of the Internet and it took my a year or two to convince her to let me have it in the house in the first place?
Checked Game" again today... still no game :( *sigh* one of these days...
Rotgut - July 16, 2005 07:02 PM (GMT)
Try bbcmultimedia.co.uk. They have info on the Ace PS2 game there, and I think you can buy it.
Scarab Dynasty - July 16, 2005 07:22 PM (GMT)
Great :) thanks very much but again, that would require ordering from the net, which is beyond me :(
Rotgut - July 21, 2005 06:26 PM (GMT)
Scarab Dynasty - July 21, 2005 09:14 PM (GMT)
Thus these are the pains of having a selective fandom :( *sigh*
Rotgut - July 26, 2005 11:21 AM (GMT)
Scarab Dynasty - July 27, 2005 01:18 AM (GMT)
Wait for us to think of some :D
Rotgut - July 27, 2005 08:15 AM (GMT)
Okay...
When the crypt doors creak and the tombstones quake,
Spooks come out for a swinging wake.
Happy haunts materialise,
And begin to vocalise.
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialise!
Now don't close your eyes and don't try to hide,
For a silly spooky, may sit by your side.
Shrouded in a daft disguise,
They begin to terrorise.
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialise!
As the moon climbs high over the dead oak tree,
Spooks arrive for the midnight spree.
Creepy creeps with eerie eyes,
Start to shriek and harmonise.
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialise!
If you would like to join are jambory,
There's a simple rule that's compolsory:
MORTALS PAY A TOKEN FEE!
Rest in piece the hauntings free,
So hurry back we would like your company!
Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialise!
---
There, done waiting! Next question.
Sarah Frost - July 27, 2005 08:20 AM (GMT)
Interesting song. :) Yours, or someone else's?
Rotgut - July 27, 2005 08:43 AM (GMT)
Sarah Frost - July 27, 2005 08:44 AM (GMT)
Oh, thanks. :) From any film in particular?
Rotgut - July 27, 2005 08:52 AM (GMT)
I actually comes from a ride: The Haunted Mansion.
Which became a film, and I'm trying to look for the blasted DVD Disc!
Sarah Frost - July 27, 2005 08:57 AM (GMT)
I haven't seen that; I don't think it sounds very interesting. But neat song.
Rotgut - July 27, 2005 09:05 AM (GMT)
It's got Eddie Murphy in it.
I just felt like singing it. NEXT QUESTIION!?
Sarah Frost - July 27, 2005 09:31 AM (GMT)
Do a complete transcript of the game. :P Every area, every villain.
Actually, we already know something of what's in it from your fics, profiles and the information already provided. Which we appreciate. Why don't you just post any trivia you find interesting, or dialogue sections you enjoyed? At the moment I don't think anyone has any questions, but I'm sure something'll eventually come up.
