Okay: This mainly to Scarab Dynasty and Sarah Frost. I've found out that Scarab has not got game, yet Sarah has, but she can't do anything with hers! So, i've decided to write this long, yet simple walkthrough of the Ace Lightning PS2 game. As I completed the game just yesterday, my mind actually still remembers a lot about the levels...although I haven't been on the freaky funhouse level since almost a year ago! Anyway, enjoy!

Hearts: These rare items can be found in several levels, and gives Ace an extra life.
Energy Balls: These blue orbs give Ace a lightning bolt every time one is collected. They can be collected from fallen villains or from Lady Illusion's bombs.
Lightning Juice: Ace doesn't get drunk over these bottles. Collect them to fully heal Ace's life bar.
Double Jump Boots: Collect these boots and Ace can do a double jump for a limited time.

Walkthrough
Story: Ace lands in the Carnival of Doom, saying the place has Lord Fear written all over it. He challenges Lord Fear.
--The Main Hub--
The main area of the carnival acts as a station where you can enter each attraction. There are five different worlds: Circus World, House of Illusion World, Cowboy World, Medieval Castle World and Haunted House. There is a secret extra life on top of the Lord Fear animatronic head. At the start of the game, locate the first Amulet piece, which is in front of the Circus World entrance. Collect it and the game will automatically save. This happens every time you collect an amulet piece. Time to enter the circus!
--Story--
Lord Fear and Staff Head are in the circus. Fear is calling for his "Clown of Mayhem". The nearby cannon fires and out comes a ball which reveals to be Googler. Googler announces he's ready for duty!
--Googler's Big Top--
Roll up! Roll up! For the greatest show in the Sixth Dimension! Googler's circus world is home to the craziest performers, this side of the datastream. From custard pie throwing clowns to martial art monkeys, the circus has got them all. The attractions in the circus are: Ring of Fear, Circus Walkways and Lord Fear's Mega Cannon. So...let the show begin!
--Ring of Fear--
Story: Ace is surprised to see Googler, who flees while Ace has to deal with his minions!
This level is where you basically start to get the hang of things. In the first two rooms, you can collect doom dimes and kill badguys. In the main ring, monkeys conquer the audience stands and elephants surround the ring. Enter the three small rooms, one at a time and activate the Lightning Buttons. In the Amulet Room, defeat the enemies in the cage to access the amulet fragment.
--Circus Walkways--
Story: Googler surprises Ace and he is lured on a strange high walkway...
The circus walkways is all about balance. There is death everywhere and if you like bottomless pits, this is the level for you. All the way through the level, all have to do is activate the lightning buttons and raise the platforms around the level. At the end of the madness, kill the robots to let the amulet piece float down into the cage. Enter the cage to collect the shard.
--Lord Fear's Mega Cannon--
Story: Ace is surprised again by Googler who tells him to give up. He then leaps down a cannon and Ace follows.
The first part of the level has you sliding down a cannon hole. You must reach the end of the cannon without dying. Blast the cannonballs and the barrels all the way. There are one or two bottles in the tunnel.
--Cannon Battle--
Story: Ace tumbles into a small room full of explosive barrels. Ace gets ambushed by Googler who is not going down to easily.
Googler is ready to googlerize Ace. But he has forbidden Ace from using the Lightning Lance and he cannot be punched! How to defeat him? Simple, freeze Googler with one of your lightning bolts and then destroy a gun powder barrel. This should damage Googler. Beware, because the explosion might get you in the process. Repeat this process until Googler's dead. The amulet fragment will float down from the ceiling.
--Story--
Lord Fear is unhappy that Googler was defeated so easily, yet he has discovered that Ace has entered the House of Illusion. He knows that Lady Illusion will be a handle for Ace, but the hero is not backing down.
--House of Illusion--
You have just stepped foot into the mystical world of Lady Illusion. However, friendly music and a water fountain can't distract you, there is Amulet pieces to find! Attractions in this world are: Horror Hedge Maze, Drop Down Well and Freaky Funhouse.
--Horror Hedge Maze--
Story: Ace enters the maze and insults a passing gnome, who shouts back. Ace blasts the gnome who reveals to be Lady Illusion, who makes a quick exit.
This crazy hedge maze is very confusing. For the first part, collect 20 coins in order to enter the next area and collect the key, so you can enter the next zone, which is populated by gnomes! For the rest of the level, you just have to activate lightning buttons to access new areas, and you'll eventually find the amulet piece.
--Drop Down Well--
Story: Ace spies another amulet shard on top of a well, but Lady Illusion appears and drops it down the well. Ace chases after it.
The level is similar to Lord Fear's Mega Cannon. Blast all obstacles until you get to the bottom. At the bottom, you must reach the amulet which is on top of a large rock in the middle of a lava cave. Destroy the lava monsters by luring them into the pools of lava.
--Freaky Funhouse--
Story: Ace wonders why the house is called the House of Illusion and realises why when Lady Illusion appears and mocks him.
The Funhouse is a tough and challenging level. Most of the level is just activating lightning buttons, so you can enter new rooms. There are many acid pools, so be careful. In the final room, you must climb up each level, shooting the villains until you reach the door to Lady Illusion's room.
--Lady Illusion's Lair--
Story: Ace enters a darkened room and demands that Lady Illusion hands over her piece of the amulet. She refuses and hurls a bomb at Ace, striking him down. She cries out and says he'll never ever get her piece.
Ace is in a large room with a large crystal ball in the centre. Lady Illusion appears on one of the floating platforms in the room and throws bombs at Ace. Target her and blast her. She will be hurt and summon spiders to her aide. Defeat them and Lady Illusion shall reappear. Repeat this process until she faints. The amulet piece will float to the ground.
--Story--
Lord Fear is furious that Ace lives. Dirty Rat cackles and says he can take down Ace. Lord Fear agrees and threatens Dirty Rat.
--Cowboy Crossroads--
Ah, yes...the old west. The home of cowboys, can can dancers and zombies! Dirty Rat is the head honcho here, but can you defeat him? Attractions in the cowboy land is: Nevershine Mine, Ghost Canyon and Crazy Grave Maze.
--Nevershine Mine--
Story: Dirty Rat flies through the mine, taunting Ace. He then leaps into a minecart and throws dynamite at Ace. Ace destroys it, but he has lost sight of the rat.
Nevershine Mine is a simple long tunnel. Most of the enemies are hidden behind crates and rocks. Beware of their dynamite, because they can take almost all of your life out! The Kamikaze Canaries are vicious, so be careful, as they explode. At the end, destroy the skeletons hiding behind the crystals to obtain the amulet fragment.
--Ghastly Gulch--
Story: Dirty Rat is not backing down so easily, so he sends his cowboy zombie gang to take care of business, while he flies into his Rat Trap Hotel.
Ghastly Gulch is a fun, but challenging canyon level. You must find two lightning buttons to blow up the boulders blocking your way to the hotel. One is at the end of a cactus lane and the other is in a cave. Once the rocks are destroyed, you cross the canyon to the hotel. If you've ever wanted to experience one of those barroom brawls, well here's your chance! You have to take down all the villains in the bar, in order to enter the last room. In the ballroom, climb up the floaitng furniture using the high jump boots. Reach the piano and collect the amulet fragment.

Yes, thanks a lot. :)

I actually should continue it now!
--Crazy Grave Maze--
Story: Dirty Rat gets word that Ace is on his way, so he sends his skeleton crew to deal with Ace, while he flies into a large tomb.
This can be difficult, if you are not good at using the target system. Practically all the skeletons in this level can reincarnate themselves. In the first area you must locate a Lightning Button to activate the gate to the next area. In the second area, kill all the zombies to get a key which will open the main area. For the rest of the level, it is just finding keys to open gates or killing enemies. Beware of the Hell Hounds (The dogs creatures that sound like frogs) and the zombies in the explosive coffins.
--Giant George Wayne's Tomb--
Story: Dirty Rat summons forth a army of evil spirits who possess a statue of Giant George Wayne, an enormous cowboy. Dirty Rat laughs at Ace and Giant George says his only line in the game: "Say your prays, geronimo!".
This is a fairly easy boss fight. All you have to do is avoid Giant George who runs about trying to squash you. Freeze Dirty Rat with a lightning bolt hide behind him until Giant George runs at you, but falls over and hurts Dirty Rat in the process. Repeat this until Dirty Rat and Giant George wave the white flag. Collect the Amulet piece that appears.
Story: Dirty Rat shrieks as Giant George comes tumbling down upon him and Ace takes the rodent's piece of the Amulet and scarpers.
--Climbcrag Castle--
This medieval castle is ruled by none other then Random Virus, who has fallen under Lord Fear's evil control. Ace has to locate Random somewhere within the castle, but many obstacles block his path, including bible-bashing two-headed monks, bearded maidens and the occasional wizard. The levels in Climbcrag Castle are: Fire Moat Fort, Drab Dungeon and Tumbledown Tower.
--Fire Moat Fort--
This fiery level is all about climbing upwards, not downwards, unless you find falling into a giant lava lake and dying fun!
There are several floors of the fort and also platforms that have several Lightning Buttons on them. There are some wacky enemies here; including bearded maidens, prisoners who get hit in the privates by their own ball and chain after defeat, and one-eyed ducks that have a very close resemblance to a certain Duck Pokemon...
--Drab Dungeon--
This is a difficult level, and requires a lot of jumping. There are only about 4 areas and most of them just require you to activate Lightning Buttons. The witches are right pains and appear in the most arquid places! In the final area, you must jump on moving platforms to reach the final door, but I suggest you defeat the witches who are in the room, for they can knock you off your platform and into the lava below.
--Tumbledown Tower--
This level is split into three towers. There is a lot of jumping and shooting to be done in this level, for there is practically an enemy at every step. The place is overrun with...ferrets! You can also get the full potential of the High Jump Boots and there are a couple of hidden extra lives around here. At the top, run through the doors to enter Random Virus' lair.
--Random Virus Battle--
Story: Ace finds Random who fires a fireball at him. Random's good side then takes over for a split second, not knowing which voice to trust.
Random stands in the middle of a pool of lava while Ace has to run around the outside. Random fires small fireballs from his wrist cannon. Notice the shields on the walls, fire lightning bolts at them and they should be able to deflect the attack back at Random. Random will then fire enormous fireballs that you must avoid by jumping, but he can also aim upwards! The wind is strong and can send the shields spinning like crazy. You can blast them while their spinning to get lightning energy for the Lightning Lance. Repeat this process until Random shuts down, literally. Collect the Amulet piece that floats down from the roof.
--The Haunted House--
You now should have 13 pieces of the Amulet (if not...then there is something wrong with your game!). Only one more left to get, and where better to look then Lord Fear's haunted house. However, you're in for a good...or should I say bad final boss fight!
--Lord Fear Showdown--
Story: Ace enters the haunted house and spies the last piece of the Amulet resting on an organ. Lord Fear suddenly extends his hand and grabs the fragment and sends Anvil and Pigface down to get Ace.
The haunted house is actually pretty small, but well designed. Spiders and spiderwebs hang everywhere and there is even a guillotine and stocks in the corners of the room. There are also portraits of Googler, Pigface, Anvil and Dirty Rat on the walls and also Lady Illusion has her own portrait on the balcony she stands on with Lord Fear, who has quite a handsome portrait.
Er... sorry about that.
You goal is to defeat Lord Fear without losing all your lives, easier said than done!
The battle begins with a sudden dash of speed from Pigface and Anvil who attack you from either side of the room. Now I know that Pigface isn't very fast in the television series, but in this game, he's as fast as Ace, and even faster! Pigface can catch up to Ace with ease and tries to run him over. The best way to defeat him is to always leap up into the air and watch Pigface run forward and then blast him until he falls unconsious, his mouth open. Don't bother hiding from Pigface by the front door of the haunted house, because Pigface is able to run up stairs.
Anvil is slower than Pigface, but has a wide-ranged smash attack. It is best to just hit him with the Lightning Lance, and then blast him with electricity if you have to.
A good way to escape both of them is to hide behind the stocks. Neither of them can get you, unless Pigface appears at the left, then he has access to you!
Once these two are dead, Lord Fear leaps down from the balcony (he is able to jump so far after being crippled in battle so much?!). He then fires fire in every direction so look out. Pigface and Anvil are then ressurected and start attacking you again. Lord Fear's shield drops after he ressurects his minions, so this is your only chance to hit him with a lightning bolt.
Aftet three hits, Lady Illusion joins the battle. She has her own shield and cannot be hurt. She stands on a stuck out platform from the balcony and hurls enormous bombs at you. You can dodge them either by running around the room, or hiding behind the stocks which are behind a wall where Lady Illusion can't hit you. Her bombs can sometimes hurt Anvil and Pigface.
On the fifth hit, Lady Illusion abandons her perch and randomly appears on the ground floor and fires bombs at you, until you have defeated Pigface and Anvil and then she returns to the balcony.
Repeat the process until Lord Fear can't take anymore and he, Pigface and Anvil fall to the ground, while Lady Illusion teleports away. Collect the last piece of the Amulet that is on the organ! Congratulations! You've completed the game!
Story: Lord Fear surrenders his piece of the Amulet and the Amulet is fully repaired. Ace then blasts Lord Fear and his gang into the Sixth Dimension, with Lord Fear screaming he'll get revenge.
And the credits scroll over and there is nothing left to do! No bonus levels or anything!
The End
Interesting Things:
The bosses you fight all have something in one of the levels that resembles them:
-Googler has a giant balloon of his face in Circus Walkways.
-Lady Illusion has statues of her in the Horror Hedge Maze and a portrait of her in the Freaky Funhouse.
-Dirty Rat has a statue of him on one of the tombs in Crazy Grave Maze.
-Random Virus has a statue of him holding up a platform in Tumbledown Tower.
-Pigface and Anvil have portraits in the haunted house.
-Lord Fear has a portrait in the haunted house.
-In the funhouse, there are portraits of the zombie butler, zombie maid and zombie chef.
-In Ghastly Gulch there is a wanted poster of Ace, saying "Dead or Really Dead!".
-In Rattrap Hotel, in the bar room there is a portrait of Whistler's Mother onlt she is a demon instead of a woman.
-On other tombs in the Crazy Grave Maze, there are statues of Hell Hounds and cowboys.
-There is a cute little owl at the beginning of the Crazy Grave Maze.
-Anyone noticed that the two-headed monk is carrying a bible? Bible-basher!
Well, there you have it! :D
Scarab Dynasty - July 15, 2005 05:50 PM (GMT)
heehee, cool, nice to see this RG, thanks :D
Does the owl have any actual purpose besides to look cute? I mean is it a spy owl with a camera in it or anything? Ace should really watch out for stuff like that in a maze :P
Sarah Frost - July 15, 2005 08:06 PM (GMT)
The 'Dead or Really Dead' line is rather amusing. :)
Scarab Dynasty - July 21, 2005 09:16 PM (GMT)
Pigface and Anvil probably don't make very attractive portraits though.
Rotgut - July 22, 2005 12:34 PM (GMT)
Well actually, there are paintings of all of the main villains in the haunted house (Lord Fear, Lady Illusion, Pigface, Anvil, Dirty Rat and Googler). All of them are actual CGI photos of the characters, except Boneman, who looks a lot younger in his painting. Perhaps this is giving us a hint that he had been a skeleton all his life?
Scarab Dynasty - July 22, 2005 01:44 PM (GMT)
Hm... cool. How does a skeleton look YOUNGER though?
Gah! Must... get... the... game!
Rotgut - July 24, 2005 09:17 AM (GMT)
You got me?
You seem very determined to get the video game. Maybe I should re-write my first Ace fic again for a third time!?
Scarab Dynasty - July 24, 2005 01:27 PM (GMT)
If you don't think it's right then go right ahead anf do it. rewriting can only help you improve, but the story seems okay as it is, so don't go deleting that for the same of a new one.
Try branching out - lets see some more ideas from you. It'd be nice to see you dosomething with all these OC's you created, for example.
Rotgut - July 24, 2005 01:40 PM (GMT)
You already know I am that I am using some of my characters in my present story.
Scarab Dynasty - July 24, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)
I do indeed, and good on you for it, but you've created so many great characters (I still really liked that man-in-the-moon one) it'd be nice to see more of them in some other fics. But I think WotMP would get a bit congested with any more than are already there.
I guess you're one of those writer's who prefers to finish one thing before starting another then? Instead of having fics on the go left right and centre like me?
Rotgut - July 25, 2005 10:18 AM (GMT)
Well, just too let you know that I have already uploaded the first chapter/episode of my third season fic. And I know: It should be put in the shameless self-promotion topic.
LightningFlash - July 25, 2005 10:28 AM (GMT)
If you know, then put it there. We read that too.
Scarab Dynasty - July 29, 2005 01:32 AM (GMT)
Yes we like to see things in the right place too :D
