Title: nattherat's oekaki doodles =)
nattherat - July 2, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
I just realised I never showed you guys this oekaki picture I did. Or maybe I did show you, in all honesty, I've lost complete track :P

I actually did that one two months ago. I forgot all about it.
I do frequent that oekaki board though, and I took a break from my work today to draw another one on it;

The oekaki is here if you guys are interested in drawing on there too :D

A very eeirie Lord Fear... that's amzing, he really looks unnerving something evil...the essense...lit's cool/
nattherat - July 3, 2008 11:58 AM (GMT)
Thanks Allison :D
I have another with me today;

I just realised, its the first time I've drawn Ace himself - shame he's just a vague blob on this
Sarah Frost - July 3, 2008 12:35 PM (GMT)
Those are amazing! I really love the action in the last one, and Lord Fear's glare in the first. They look fantastic!
nattherat - July 3, 2008 01:00 PM (GMT)
:D Thanks Sarah! I'm hoping these little doodles will do until I get some more proper villain art done
Plus they also give me the oppotunity to play around with image ideas that are too time-consuming to do fully. :)
Rotgut - July 3, 2008 07:41 PM (GMT)
That's...AWESOME!!!
Nice work Natty.
Rider Jetfire - July 5, 2008 12:04 AM (GMT)
Gotta love the one with Ace in it :D
nattherat - July 6, 2008 01:23 PM (GMT)
Thanks everyone :D
Well I was inspired to do another today. Only this time its a bit out of character. I'm certain most people have their own ideas about the backstory and what the sixth dimension is like, etc. Well, me too, and I ended up sketching Lord Fear from one of my story ideas.

Its only a teeeeennnsssyy bit modified. If you prefer, you can always pretend that I broke the oekaki and could only select these few colours
Rotgut - July 6, 2008 03:38 PM (GMT)
Lord Fear is an angel! Well Staff Head, anway. :)
Cool!
nattherat - July 6, 2008 04:43 PM (GMT)
 Hahaha, no, nothing so cliche as that - even though the wings point to it. It's not a very good story anyway, and nothing would ever come of it, since I fail at fanfiction, and I haven't the time to dedicate to drawing a comic of it or whatever  I'll get back to drawing canon Lord Fear next time :D
Rotgut - July 6, 2008 08:07 PM (GMT)
You can always write an outline of your version of Lord Fear's life here.
Sarah Frost - July 6, 2008 10:29 PM (GMT)
I like that look--very ghost-like/angelic! It's an interesting effect with clothes the same colour as he is. The grey spider/bat/things rock! :)
Seconding Rotgut's request to tell us something about your fanfic if you're not planning to write it. It sounds great.
Scarab Dynasty - July 7, 2008 02:48 PM (GMT)
Hey, nattherat would you be too objective to my making some icons using some of that awesome Fear okakei?
nattherat - July 8, 2008 03:08 PM (GMT)
Ah, ok, I relent  I'll try to write up some sort of summary of it, if it works out, I'll post it up :)
And Scarab, not at all :D In fact, I'm honored you want to use my doodles for such a purpose! I'd love to see them when you're done :D
nattherat - July 15, 2008 08:51 PM (GMT)
And I have a new one;

Though not as finished or as decent as the other ones. I was really just absent-mindedly scribbling when Lord Fear appeared, and minus his coat.
Is all that information about Lord Fear posted in the RP Bio true? I had no idea. This is why my story is rubbish  All I've ever learnt from the show is LFs a villain, AL is a hero, they fight a couple of battles and eventually one wins  So my whole backstory idea went in a completely different direction to that bio.
Sarah Frost - July 15, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
Wow, I like that one! ;)
In the show, LF is a villain, Ace a hero, they fight battles and eventually one wins, you're totally right. The creator just mentioned extracurricularly that in his ideas they'd been friends once. I'd love to hear your show-based backstory idea! :D
Rotgut - July 16, 2008 08:00 AM (GMT)
Nice artwork. Lord Fear looks like he's posing to be a model. :P
nattherat - July 16, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
 He does doesn't he Rotgut :D And he'd make a fine model indeed :P
Thanks for the clarification Sarah :D Guess that means my idea isn't completely out of the question :) I've been thinking about how to write down my idea, and I've decided how I'll do so. I rubbish with words, and I think if I tried to write it down, I'd get all muddled up, and I cant fit a whole comic into my schedule, so I'll do it in the form of storyboards :D Either as oekaki doodles, or doodles on paper, I haven't quite decided yet.
Rotgut - July 17, 2008 09:15 AM (GMT)
The choice is yours, Natty. Whatever your decision is, I'm sure the outcome will be great. :)
nattherat - July 20, 2008 03:59 PM (GMT)
New one today;

This hasn't really got anything to do with anything. It's because I was playing the Nightmare Before Christmas sequel on the PS2 the other day, and messing around with the extra costumes you can unlock for Jack. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but one costume is sort of....vaguely similar to Lord Fear's outfit. Cue me running around for an hour trying very hard to pretend that I was playing as Lord Fear.
At any rate, Jack Skellington, Fear's outfit, halloween, it all led to this.
Sarah Frost - July 20, 2008 07:36 PM (GMT)
Scary stalking through the night! Looks fantastic. :D Once, I fanficranted about Lord Fear, and people assumed I was talking about Jack Skellington.
Rotgut - July 20, 2008 10:22 PM (GMT)
nattherat - July 20, 2008 10:40 PM (GMT)
I suppose Jack is incredibly popular which is stupid because Lord Fear is about a million times cooler and Illusion could beat Sally any day. Plus LF could make a better Halloween, the extent of Jack's scaring powers seemed to be sticking his tongue out. Lord Fear could obliterate you.
Glad you're enjoying the doodles Rotgut :D Even if they DO all center only around Lord Fear
nattherat - August 3, 2008 01:58 PM (GMT)

:D I just got a certain video game. And I bought two versions. And the PC one predictably doesn't work. :(
I remember thinking ages ago how sweet it'd be if Fear helped himself to the school's kitchen in order to bake a cake as a surprise for Illusion's birthday or something like that. I don't remember if he was wearing the pink frilly apron in that thought though. Then again, judging by my mind, I'd say yes, he almost definitely was.
Sarah Frost - August 3, 2008 09:30 PM (GMT)
Wow! That's an, um, very nice frilly apron. And Staffhead is looking awfully cute with the icing there. :D
I think I should go off and be very scared of baking!Fear... :P
(Lovely artwork! <3)
Scarab Dynasty - August 3, 2008 10:34 PM (GMT)
*FREAKS OUT AND RUNS FOR THE HILLS*
Achem. Nicely drawn :D
nattherat - August 4, 2008 09:37 AM (GMT)
See, this is a perfect method :D If only Lord Fear had thought to don a pink frilly apron at some point, he could've terrified the lightning knights into giving him the amulet and not resisting his take-over of the world
I find baking!Fear absolutely hilarious, its just so absurd that it actually becomes plausible in my mind
Rotgut - August 4, 2008 10:09 AM (GMT)
Duff: "Lord Fear's gone off his rock!"
I'll say. *gawks at Lord Fear in the apron...and loses sanity*
Muahahahahahahaa! Brilliant!
Rider Jetfire - August 4, 2008 10:49 AM (GMT)
It's the most insane idea ever, yet it still works!!
nattherat - August 4, 2008 12:45 PM (GMT)

Not quite as outrageous as housewife!Fear (yes, I imagined him dusting in this apron now. Its humorous.), but I love Googler, he's so sweet and playful. If Sparx stopped blasting him with her sword for a minute, I bet they could play a great game of tag
I was tempted to turn this into a Sparx/Fear picture for the shippers of that because of Sparx's pose  I may still yet. Possibly.
Sarah Frost - August 4, 2008 01:02 PM (GMT)
:D :D :D More fantastic art yay!!! Googler and Sparx both look great; some of the detail on Googler looks really complicated. If only they would stop trying to murder each other.... :P I like the happy expression on his face and Sparx' staring cynically off into the distance. Another SQUEE!
Rotgut - August 5, 2008 08:26 AM (GMT)
It's like a Joker and Harley Quin relationship. Googler is my favourite character in the show. Sparx's expression is priceless.
nattherat - August 6, 2008 11:49 AM (GMT)

I forgot to upload this the other day when I drew it  More excuses to draw silly things that would never happen, but make for humorous situations. :D
Ace's face came out fine on the first go, then I got rid of it because it was too big. This second try came out hideous, so I thought; 'what the heck', and drew Zip and Snip latched onto his face.
Sarah Frost - August 7, 2008 03:27 AM (GMT)
Zoh my god, that is awesome! :D :D Ace looks so very bishounen. Lord Fear is cute, Staffhead is cute, Sparx and LI are cute... Lovely dialogue. Lord Fear sort of looks happier than he says. :P The Fear/Ace 'shippers ought to be very, very happy.
Rotgut - August 7, 2008 09:02 AM (GMT)
Okay...I've now lost all contact with reality.
Ace looks like a woman! And Lord Fear looks happy in my opinion. :P
Brilliant work though,
nattherat - August 9, 2008 03:48 PM (GMT)
Ace's face did come out very feminine didn't it :P
Lord Fear does look happy doesnt he? :P I've been studying how his expressions work so that when I finally recreate him in 3D and animate him (again, long time away yet), I can get him to look and act pretty much exactly how he is in the show. It's proving harder than I though  His jaw is so tricky, when he's happy, he raises the back of it in a smile, but lowers the bones beneath his eyes, and when he's angry, he raises those bones, he also does the same as before with his jaw - but theres a slight difference that I haven't quite put my finger on yet that means the difference between happy and angry
Are there Fear/Ace shippers? Why am I even asking that, of course there is  And besides, all that constant bickering is probably a front for sexual tension. I was half tempted to have Fear flinging his arms around Ace and looking horrified, as if there were some sort of object on the floor that he has a phobia of, and he's jumped into Ace's arms as a means of escape. It'd probably make more sense than this  I wonder what Ace's saved Lord Fear from anyway?
Rider Jetfire - August 9, 2008 04:16 PM (GMT)

Both of your most recent pictures are amazing!!!
Rotgut - August 9, 2008 07:31 PM (GMT)
I do like the Ace & Lord Fear relationship, and the executive producer told me via e-mail that they were once best friends.
FeArdantane - August 14, 2008 03:08 PM (GMT)
So Scarab directed me here!
And I love them! Seriously!
The image of Fear in an apron is just somehow so right....
And I have no doubt 'best friends' is code for 'secret lovers'!
xx
Fefe
Rotgut - August 14, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
Looks like Scarab is doing work behind the scenes. We were talking recently about bringing back everyone.
Natty, do LF in a ballet skirt and you're number one Ace Lightning drawer ever!
