This was inspired by the other subject of discussion in the “Uses of the Amulet” topic.
I think I’d like to ask a somewhat different question: what IS the amulet in the first place?
Let’s look at some points.
1) The Lightning Knights will begin to “die” as soon as the evils have all the pieces of the amulet. This means the amulet obviously has some kind of massive “reality altering” powers, and may even be tied directly into the Knight’s themselves.
2) The amulet is dangerous. Look at what happened to Lord Fear and his evil minions when Mark smashed the amulet at the end of season two? They had been channelling all that incredible power through the amulet to boost their team, but the second the amulet was shattered, it obviously set off some kind of cascade effect (which destroyed them on the spot. Like a gun backfiring.
We delved into this a bit in roleplay... well, actually I did, by suggesting that the amulet’s power can be channelled entirely by whomever is holding it, if they know how. This gives the holder of even a single piece of the amulet a staggering amount of power. (It’s not a very good idea for mortals to do this because they’re not built for it, but it still kind of works)
3) The amulet in the source of the game. Presumably it originally belonged to the Knights, and there’s a great deal of back stories ewe can imagine that could explain its existence. Maybe it was used as a truce item between the sides of good and evil (aka, they split it in half directly so as to split the power evenly between them). Maybe it was created by Zoar as a means to stop the rebellion of evil but he didn’t have the common sense to channel it so only knights could use it. Maybe in some way it IS something of Zoar – a fragment of his power or identity. Maybe Zoar wasn’t a person at all... the ideas could go on forever.
Well, for starters: The Amulet is a large metal triangular-shaped...amulet. :D
The Amulet's power seems to have an effect on one side if the other has it (Villains=Heroes dying), (Heroes=Villains dying). But I would wonder what happens if a third neutral party obtained the Amulet? Would it hurt both sides or neither?
You are right, the Amulet is DANGEROUS!!! It blew up both Lord Fear, his minions and Kilobyte. Rotgut (yay!) and Lady Illusion (yay!) are the only villains to have not suffered from the Amulet's powers. Ace, Sparx and Random have all suffered but were dying slowly. I wonder if the Amulet can effect humans?
The origins of the Amulet are generally alien to me. :alien:
But the yearbook says the Amulet was made by a man named Zoar. I believe Zoar was some big important guy, perhaps founder of the Lightning Knights, maybe even a God or an angel, or a demon from the deepest depths of White Hot Oblivion. Maybe he died and transferred his lifeforce into the Amulet as energy? Who knows?

This is a good question... could it be, then that the mortals are a third, netral party? it would stand to reason that they have more"choice" about it that either the good or bad guys.
So maybe the amulet only destroyed the evils at the end of season one because it was what Mark WANTED it to do... maybe if it was in the hands of... oh, let's say Wayne, and Wayne thought bad guys taking over the world was cool, when he smashed the amulet, maybe the knights would be destroyed instead.
This would connect to your diea about lady Illusion too - because Lady Illusion can morph, she can take forms which are alien to her, and therefore might exist outside of the amulets restrictions... that would make her a good ally to have.
I believe the amulet CAN effect humans... though Mark was totally fine at the end of season ione while all the knights were fading out, so obviously it doesn't affect them as much... Still it's likely the amulet does have SOME effect on mortals. Remember what H said a long time ago, jokingly, about it possibly being the only reason Mark wasn't killed? Don't you think it's possible that it acts as protection for Mortals, too?

This reminds me of a line from the anime series Rahxephon: "Any god that man can percieve isn't really a god".
I have a feeling that "angel" and "demon" are far too simple terms where creatures such as Zoar are concerned. To me, gods and things that claim to be gods are far above any ideas of angels or demons or monsters from hell. Those are all human constructs and mthologies, and don't nessecarily have anything to do with knights (Ace didn't know what a friend, or a hand dryer, or a freaking blender was, so how would you expect him to recognize a god?)
It is also important to note that it was never said whether or not Zoar was a nice guy.
True, he may have been a bad guy. :bubble:
