I’m posting this quite early, so we’ll have about three months to finish this. Not everyone will be able to post during the time requested, but because of the long time limit, posting early shouldn’t be a problem for most people without holiday computer access.

The gifts will be due to be posted between 24th December and 1st January, though no matter when you post I’m sure people will be glad to see it. Just don’t forget about it between now and then.

Everyone participating should post a wishlist on this thread and offer in turn to fulfil at least one wish.

I’m tracking this topic, and the offers and wishlists will be reproduced at the end of this first post for reference purposes. Please also post links to completed requests on this thread.

The goal is that everyone gives something and gets something. Since we’re such a small group, I think a longer wishlist is more likely to hit someone else’s inspiration button than a shorter one, though we’re likely to only get one thing from that list.

What’s on the wishlist can be anything Ace-related within reason; for example, if you’re underage don’t request pr0n, or at least don’t request pr0n on this thread. Don’t worry about sounding too demanding with a long list; I think it’s more considerate to a wouldbe giver to offer them lots of suggestions. And don’t worry if you think some of the items on your list sound silly; you never know who they might inspire. Only make holiday-related requests if you’re a fan of that genre; the holiday is the occasion, not the theme. (There is no theme—just ask for whatever you happen to want. It’s a great chance to beg for that one particular idea you really, really want to see someone try!)

When choosing a wish you want to grant, try to pick someone who isn’t already getting something. I’m not going to try to force anyone to do anything; just remember that we don’t want to leave anyone out. Don’t be scared about participating; we’re a very small fandom and we’re always glad to see something new.

I’m probably the one who most needs reminding about this, but as these are gifts we need to be polite. Don’t give concrit about a gift unless asked; do make sure to express appropriate thanks and praise.

The word limit for fics and essays is 500-5000, though we’re all flexible people. Drabbles (the hundred-word variety) certainly aren’t forbidden; just write more than one of them, please. Feel free to view the upper limit as merely a vague suggestion if you happen to have sufficient time and inclination to write something longer.

I’m not going to post my own wishlist just yet, because I posted it at the beginning last year and got *everything* from all you amazingly talented and generous people.

But I will put in my offer: I’ll write the first given fic challenge no matter what it involves, whether OC or impossible pairing or character I loathe. *hopes the challenger won’t be too cruel* (Exception: crossovers where I don’t know enough about the other fandom.)

Please mention and link to this on your LJ/deviantART/etc, to get any Acefen who may have missed this and to attract fandom attention.

Q: Should I edit a post if I want to add something?
A: Post again so I can receive the alert and edit it up here. The only edits you should be doing are either trivial or on posts that aren't supposed to be copied up here. As a forum moderator, I'll make sure that double posts don't get you in trouble in this topic (only in this topic, though!). Please do not edit unless you do not want me to include the edit up here.

Q: Can I still work on something if someone else has already offered to do it?
A: But of course! The more, the merrier.

Q: Do I have to wait until the period between 24th December and 1st January to post if I finish a challenge early?
A: As I remark above, I intended the offers to appear in a glut during this period. However, I understand that you may feel that spacing out is a better option, and I can't bring myself to tell someone off for posting Acefic or art. (Also, I understand that some people may have issues with holiday computer access.)

Q: Does a request have to be specifically addressed to me/should I specifically address a request to someone else?
A: Offer whatever you feel inspired to do. Please don't feel insecure about your skills; you're offering to give someone something they really want to see, so they're almost guaranteed to appreciate it. (And if they don't make proper thankyous, I'll go after them with a big stick--or Scarab will go after me!) Requests are generally expected to be thrown out to the fandom at large--the choice is meant to be broad.

Q: (hopefully won't be asked!) I offered to do something, but it's getting close to the deadline and I don't think I can finish on time. What should I do?
A: Tell the person you offered, and maybe negotiate something with them--for example, just write a drabble, or show them what you've done. Be honest about it; nobody's going to come after you with a big stick for having problems, and I'm pretty sure you don't want a record of your uncompleted offer to remain written here in perpetuity.

I’d like to read some discussion concerning the end of the world. Seeing as I really suck at writing wishlists on the spot (my Mum always yells at me at Christmas :P ), I shall think a bit about what I want and get back to you all. (If I remember... ;) )

I'm willing to do any fic that intrests me to write. If it doesn't interest me it would probably end up all stilted... and no one wants that. :P Am also willing to do piccies for people, though I'm probably better at silly comic type things (note: I think my comics have improved beyond basic stick figures ;) ) rather than serious, working better if they were drawn really well type piccies. And I'll have to be working around my uni and possible vacation practice (crosses fingers) schedule, so nothing too huge. :D

I can only find one livejournal community that's cross-fandom RPF (real person fiction, which is what you're after with Bob and Jillian). Good luck!

I should note that some people, including me, don't like RPF. I think there's a difference between writing about fictional characters and writing about real people; writing about real people is spreading information and opinions about them, but writing about fictional characters in fanfic isn't generally going to harm anyone real. The issue is "potentially causing offence"; is it reasonable for a (living, of course; writing about long-dead people in historical fiction doesn't bother them or me at all) person to feel offended if they've just happened on a particular story about them? I think it can be seen as somewhat creepy and stalkerish to write stories about another person that aren't celebrity parodies. Sometimes it's innocent and amusing, like if the story's pure parody, or about them meeting the Buffy cast, or about them getting trapped inside their own TV show. Sometimes it's RPS--in this context, I'd like to use it to mean "real person sex" rather than "real person slash"--and that's what really gives me the willies, because it is reasonable for a person not to want people writing stories depicting them in very close relationships, especially if the relationship's with someone they're not even interested in. It's something I see as icky and invasive into a person's real life, which is probably partially coloured by the fact I've never even wanted to write RPF or cared about actors more than characters, but I still think that's a reasonable response which makes some forms of RPF very dubious. Of course, in the great scheme of things I'm sure RPF does very little damage, and I've heard that some celebrities deliberately allow it as a means of boosting popularity.

Anyway, I'm sure your attitude to it is all very innocent and wholesome, Kitty, and of course it's okay that you fangirl them and root for them. Just maybe keep it to General Discussion next time. :)

Am still not sure if I was supposed to do them or not. :P But show season starts, erm, tomorrow, and it's not really a period in which I can 'make' myself sit down and draw something. I figured it was better to do them when they came and while I could.

The third version of my original Ace Lightning story, the gameverse one! :D

The third season may be put on hiatus for a while but I will still work on it. For gameverse story I've come up with a brand new story, but it still follows the game's story only my version. Also, the ending was also considered rubbish by both me and you (Lord Fear going all Jafar on us).

The point is it is for you lot as it has been about two years since I joined the meesageboard...I think. Is there anything you'd like to see in the story? However, there is not going to be any Ace/LI pairing as it takes place before the show. I'll set to work on it as soon as possible. :bubble:
