Title: 'Shipping Debates
Description: An Unnaturally Popular Pastime

Here's the topic for debating the relative merits of your favourite pairings/OT3s/moresomes. Keep it to reasonably plausible canon pairings, please (ie. no Pigface/Jessica). Assume all characters are bisexual.

A couple of possible questions to start off with...

Canon Sparx pairings: should she remain single, or could she ultimately end up with Ace or Random, or is there someone else she should get to like?

Ace/LI versus Ace/Random: which would be better for all concerned?

Sparx/LI and Sam/Heather: parallel possible couple or mere coincidence?

Evil Overlords: Fear/LI versus KB/LI versus, um, ridiculously twisted threesome.

Mark/Felicity versus Mark/Kat: is a Sue really the worst possible romantic fate?

And...

Simon/Fiona. Truly compatible? Or should one of them run away with...? :P

Dude, I'd pick Mark/Felicity over Mark/Kat anyday. Remember my DC crossover fight? Yeah.

The Sparx/LI and Sam/Heather would so very much work as a paralel. Two of my fave pairing thoughts there.

hey... you think maybe Mark/Sparx belongs here more than in the crack pairing catagory? because it's really not that weird or impossible...

Sarah Frost - July 28, 2006 09:28 PM (GMT)
Felicity-as-seperate-persona is pretty distinct from LI, though LI doesn't seem to like children. :P

Nah, it's not impossible, and Sparx is closer to Mark's age and maturity than the other CGIs. (Mark's probably more mature than her sometimes.) There's just the problem of a lack of actual mutual interest. :P

Scarab Dynasty - July 28, 2006 10:32 PM (GMT)
Nah, they just hit it off wrong, is the problem :P Just sort that.

*dies* I can see Mark/Sparx. It'd be cute. Until Mark made the mistake of suggesting to Sparx they take a 'relaxing' ride on the Lightning Flash. Sparx doesn't do relaxing. :P

Sarah Frost - July 29, 2006 05:20 AM (GMT)
Mmm, I think Mark's become a little too paranoid to really be comfortable with Sparx... :P And he doesn't seem to want adventure as much as she does.

Sparx would be dragging poor Mark to every battle she wants to go to and he'd be so exhausted he'd collapse. Ace and Lord Fear's relationship is rather interesting, although most of it is shrouded in mystery. Ace and Lord Fear are purposely programmed to hate eachother and try and defeat the other like natural enemies (e.g. cat and mouse, rabbit and fox, me and my sister). But if you look at their relationship more deeper you can just see that they do respect eachother, and I wouldn't be surprised if Ace and Lord Fear work together again. Fiona and Simon should stay a couple as they are perfect together and are very funny (memory of Episode 2 involving the lawnmower, flowers and washing) :D

Fear is evil, but despite big displays on incompetence, he's not entirely stupid. I highly doubt Ace would want to trust Fear again after what happened the last time, but then, there's no telling what situations could require.

I can see Sparx doing the dragging. nother way in which she resembels Heather :P

Sarah Frost - July 29, 2006 09:43 PM (GMT)
I don't know if it's exactly 'respect'. Familiarity, perhaps, and a need to unite against a common enemy. But I really wouldn't want to see Ace teaming up with Fear again, because he should know how he treated LI.

Scarab Dynasty - July 29, 2006 10:39 PM (GMT)
Yes, fear clearly doesn't respect Ace, or the other way around. Not in the least, if you ask me. And even if they did, that's pretty much gone to the winds, now. Fear killed the woman he (and maybe Fear himself, at one point) loved, remember? Not to mention chsoe to shoot Ace from behind. Nope, not an act of someone you respect.

Hmm.... Ace/LI probably makes more sense then Ace/Random, although Ace/Random might be a little less paniful for those envolved. But then again, Random has his split personality, he'd probably just hurt Ace, that would get messy. I definetly prefer Ace/LI they're just so cute. But what about and OT3? That would be interesting. Iv had this discussion be4, I could see Random/LI happening. That would make Ace pretty angry, or upset, or maybe he wouldn't care.

Evil overlords: Well, Fear/LI was certainly alot more canon but there was that tentacleporn (ewwww) Once again i say ridiculously twisted threesome. (ewwwwww) Its just so funny. LF proably does go both ways so why not?

Mark/Felicity versus Mark/Kat: Mark/ Felicity any day, I really hate Kat! Mark/Flic would be funny. Never know, maybe Mark and LI would fall in love. (Once again ewwwww) It could happen. ;)

The OT3 ideal I subscribe to needs to be one where all three of them have a strong connection to each other. Actually I think that if it ever came down to a choice for Ace between Random and LI, it'd be Random because of that long friendship between the two of them, though I definitely prefer Ace/LI. There's also that LI seems to be very much the possessive type and wouldn't want to share. ;) But there is possibility for a Random/LI relationship and parallel to build that interconnection. I could see Ace dealing with a Random/LI relationship fairly well, disappointed but respecting LI (and Random) enough to deal with it. (Or Sparx/LI. :P )

I don't think LI likes children--in any sense of the world. :P I really don't like the concept of most CGI/human relationships, especially when there's an obvious age/maturity difference involved. It could be funny, and of course everything can be well written, but not my thing. Ace/Mark abuse of power with an 'innocence' dynamic is the one I can most see.

The persona of Felicity Fury is very distinct to LI, and if she was actually a separate character, who knows? Maybe Mark could deal with her brand of devoted-New-Age-batshit-crazy quite well, considering his experience with the CGIs.

There's a distinction between "likely or definite relationships in canon", "relationships which would be beneficial for both people involved", and "relationships which are definitely not beneficial or not even consensual but are interesting". I think sometimes these get confused, and sometimes we don't always define our terminology properly. I say Ace/LI is a great relationship because they're good for each other, which is all very well, but extended scenes of Ace/LI interaction might not be good from a dramatic standpoint, because they'd probably just play chess or something. (I'd certainly like to see it, but.) Fear/LI is pretty dramatic, and reading about it can intrigue me, so in that sense of the word I 'ship it as well.
