Title: What are their respective purposes?
Rotgut - June 17, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
What are each of the villains' purposes. Here's my ideas:
Lord Fear: Leader of the group, evil world-conquest type wanting revenge (duh!) runs operations from his throne.
Staff Head: Second-in-command, loyal advisor/weapon/walking stick to Lord Fear.
Kilobyte: New leader, pawn of Rick's for world conquest.
Lady Illusion: Easy infiltration using her shapeshifting powers, assasination?
Dirty Rat: Spy, reconnaissance leader.
Pigface: Common henchman, could be allowed to eat prisoners after they no longer have a purpose from Fear's/Kilobyte's POV.
Anvil: Bodyguard, muscle of the gang.
Googler: Maniacal crazy revenge-seeking minion, possibly assassination. Also to give the heroes something to worry about.
Rotgut: Basic flunky. Pretty useless.
Candy Floss: Replacement for Lady Illusion. Ambushing, assassination, surprise attacker...
Buzzbeast: Dangerous pet for Lord Fear.

Yeah, pretty much. :) You might add 'theft' and 'escape artist' to LI (her climbing walls even remind me a bit of Catwoman). And I think Kilobyte ends up as Rick's ultracompetent minion, and fits that cliche a lot better than Fear fits anything minion-related.

Woo hoo on the Lady Illusion is kinda like catwoman!!!!!! I love cats, kinda obvious.
Scarab Dynasty - July 25, 2006 12:07 AM (GMT)
I sure hope you're not talking about the movie version of Catwoman... totally different from what I'd consider the real Catwoman. But I guess LI does have some simialr traits.
Can't see Ace as Batman, though :P

Definetly not the movie version!!!! I hated that movie, it was just so wrong. No, i like the original catwoman. Hmmm.... Ace as batman? Nah. Ace is very diff, he's also very innocent.
Rotgut - July 25, 2006 12:53 PM (GMT)
Hehehehe! I can imagine Ace dressed in Batman's costume fighting Googler as the Joker and Dirty Rat as the Penguin. Lord Fear could be Alfred.

Interesting. But I suppose it makes a little bit of sense. Somehow. After all Batman always did have a thing for catwoman. I suppose Sparx could be batgirl and Ha ha Random Robin. No that's just wrong. Maybe Mark Robin, nope still not right. Sparx as batgirl, no chance!
Sarah Frost - July 25, 2006 01:21 PM (GMT)
Hey, original!Batgirl was a bit of a spunky redhead. :P But Sparx would object to being BatGIRL if Ace got to be BatMAN.
Heather can be Robin. :P She has the martial arts skills and looks a bit like Steph!Robin.
Scarab Dynasty - July 25, 2006 05:56 PM (GMT)
Sparx is in luck, then, the new batwoman is a redhead :P (has also been described as a buxom lipstick lesbian... why they feel the need to sell the character entirely on those attributes is beyond me, but hell there doesn't seem to be much else to her so far. No character development at all in 52 v_v)
So, Kitty, am I right in assuming you're a DC fan? (Please say I'm right in assuming you're a DC fan) :P
On that subject, there's an Ace Lightning/DC unvierse crossover I've had buzzing on my harddrive for ages, which began after a humourous suggestion from Sarah Frost, who has also posted what could be cponsidered the first step in the crossover
here.

sorry, but what is DC? I don't really know abreviations for shows. Batgirl wasnt buxom, or lipsticked, or a lesbian. At least I don't think so. I hate modern batman. Some of its ok, but really, it doesn't compare. I like the batman ride in Movieworld though.

DC Comics. They publish Batman, Superman, and a lot of other titles set in that universe and others.
Original!Batgirl hangs around with her own female team, and Batgirl II was very close to Robin IV (the Girl Wonder), though neither of them are particularly buxom. You're thinking of the new Bat
woman.
I can't afford a comics habit, but I do watch

I think you're a tad confused, Kitty.
But given the complexity of all these different series, I don’t blame you.
Batwoman and batgirl are two different characters. The two character originally emerged in the golden age during batmans "funny phase" (a time when authorities were complaining about comic book violence and so many limits were imposed, including that batman started delving into more humourous storylines) I expect your experience is of the animated and movie continuities, while I'm more into the comics.
Batgirl was originally Barbara Gordon (the red head with whom you're probably the most familiar) - just like in the animated series. But she was shot and paralysed from the waist down by the Joker (not long after the death of the second robin) She went on to become the computer genius/powerhouse Oracle who has been a great aid to many heroes over the last ten years and founded the "Birds of Prey" - an all female team of crimefighters.
During a recent Batman saga "No Man's Land", a second batgirl was introduced - Cassandra Cain was raised as an assassin, is borderline-metahuman and has the unique ability to predict the body movements of her opponents before they even do so themselves. She was guilt stricken over her first "kill" (because she was able to see death through that man's eyes, because of her ability to read body language) and ran away. On the streets for years, she eventually became an informant for Oracle, and then took up the mantle as the second Batgirl.
Unfortunately, DC has changed things recently - in the wake of a recent huge shifting in the comics, Cassandra has reverted to her former assassin state (and DC has written it TERRIBLY I might add.) There is currently no Batgirl in existence. But a recent comic series introduced the Batwoman - a new character (based on the golden age batwoman of Kathy Kane) who has no relation to either of the former batgirls. And I'm personally rather annoyed that she's being sold entirely on pyschical attrributes and sexuality, but there you go.
I'd say you should read the comics as I prefer the storylines there, myself. ;)
Yes, I need help.
