Title: Detail is Everything
Rotgut - March 19, 2006 02:03 PM (GMT)
I like detail in shows, and Ace Lightning has plenty of it. So I've been scouting the DVD and would like to share with you a collection of background details from the episodes that you might have not spotted.
Episode One
*There is no driver in the car that goes by at the start of the episode.
*Notice how Mark's version of the game has much better graphics than the ones we have?
*Mark has an Ace Lightning mouse mat.
*The sword imbedded in the floor of the digital Haunted House.
*Notable things in Mark's unpacked room include: a scarf, a football, some sort of astronomy poster, a globe, a flag of the United Kingdom.
*The portal in the satellite is represented by sunlight shining on water.
*This only one time of two we see Lady Illusion in her wire frame form, the other time is when Kilobyte upgrades.
*If the seven pieces of the Amulet are together, than how did Ace and Lord Fear get their own pieces so quickly?
*On the DVD, if you have widescren, when Ace blasts Pigface in the first battle, you'll see that when he goes flying behind the tree, he freezes in midair until the scene changes.
*When Staff Head trips Ace up, their is hissing and croaking noises.
*The piece of the Amulet in Lady Illusion's orb in upside-down.
*There are a number of items outside Duff's house, including the garden gnome which contains the sixth amulet fragment, a chair, a barbeque grill, butterfly decorations on the walls, some sort of animal cage, and a sign that says "Please respect our sterile environment. Thank you."
*Through a quick glance into Duff's trailer, we see that it is not very tidy or pretty, and there is a dresser on the wall.
*When Duff introduces himself to the villains, a train can be heard going by. The carnival must be built near a railway.
*Mark has a large collection of Footballs.
*There's a smoke alarm on his wall.
*There is a roll of wallpaper and a washing basket in Mark's cupboard.
*Fiona's voice appears to have been added via post-production.
*Simon's registration number on his car is BRT 450.
*When Mark and Chuck shake hands, you can see a watercan on a table in the garden across the street from the bus.
*There appears to be a fire truck following the bus.
*When the Rat watches the bus drive away, there is a kid on a scooter.
*How did the robot get out of the closet on its own?
*If Ace has never seen a toilet before, what does he use to dispose of his urine?
*Ace touches the computer screen as if he knows he came from a computer game.
*There is a lunchlady different to Mrs. Kutcher.
*When Ace walks into the carnival, there appears to be some sort of dog kennel to the right.
I will continue this, in six separate replies to this one later on.

I like this, Rotgut. Excellent observations there.
The only time we ever see a CGI character actually eating human food, if I recall correctly, is LI--and she's in human morph at the time. I guess they absorb energy directly into their bodies, Zoar only knows what they do with waste product if any... Also, toilets as we know them are not the only option for waste disposal. :P
Rotgut - March 19, 2006 08:48 PM (GMT)
Indeed, Sarah. :P ;) :ph43r:
Time for Episode 2
*To start off with, let's see into Pete's room. He is a theif for starters! He's a sign to London from the A40. Also he's a group of football scarves and some socks are poking out of a draw. I've already tried the website on top of his webcam, so don't try it.
*At the Haunted House, notice Lord Fear's bony friend sitting at the organ.
*There is a wheel of fortune in the Haunted House.
*Look at that lovely carpet underneath the television.
*That gnome is on television...he doesn't look to happy about it.
*The name on Simon's lawnmower is John Deere.
*There are a number of books on Mark's bed. But I cannot read any of the titles. One appears to be about cards. Is Mark gonna become a gambler?
*There appears to be a red afro wig on a shelf above Mark's computer.
*On the shop door Sam comes out of says Fax/E-mail 99 cents. Who e-mails or sends faxesinside a shop?
*Notice the wall of tools in the Haunted House.
*Behind Lord Fear is a tower of shelves, with buckets of paint on them.
*When Duff chases Chuck, you can see he's got some gloves in his back pocket.
*The stuffed bulldog toy looks very menacing.
*Notice there is a suit of armour lurking in the shadows of the Haunted House when Mark enters.
*Ace makes a reference to well-known video game star, Mario.
*The lamp behind Lord Fear appears to be floating in midair.
*Notice the skeleton in the doombuggy is strapped to the back so he doesn't fall over.
*Judging by Pigface's movements, it looks like he can fly.
*The skeleton in the doombuggy has no teeth.
*There is a giant spider on Duff's desk.
*That guy at the ice cream stand reminds me of a guy from the 70's.
*You can just imagine that skeleton at the organ leaping up and attacking the knights.
*Googler's puppet theatre appears in the battle between Ace and Fear.

Episode 3
*Mark has a dartboard in his room.
*There is a poster on the wall about lightning. Obviously a hint to the main element used in the show: electricity.
*We get some history about America. Benjamin Franklin did his key-kite-lightning trick in 1752.
*The CGI in this episode is what I consider the poorest in the series. It somewhat looks incomplete.
*The license plate on Duff's ice cream wagon is DUFF 144.
*The students, especially Mark, are oblivious to the ice cream truck, skeleton, superhero and flying rat.
*Notice the pair of soliders in the postcard Mark got from "Holly".
*There is a wooden carved duck on the windowsill.
*Fiona and Simon seem to be mad about photos of fruit.
*Pigface appears to be littering. Notice the cups scattered about his bin.
*The green formula on Chesebrough's desk may be a foreshadowing to Formula XYX.
*The fat guy with the beard and cowboy hat that is seen at the carnival makes his debut to the programme.
*Googler's puppet show makes another appearance.
*Those cups beside Pigface's bin have moved with it.
*The villains use all their might to cackle evil. You may also notice when Lord Fear takes a very quick breather to cackle again, the second time round, that is not Lord Fear laughing!!!
Sarah Frost - March 19, 2006 09:12 PM (GMT)
Neat-o. :) I don't think that was a reference to Mario-of-videogames, though, it's probably just a name starting with 'M'. :P
You can send faxes at some 'net cafes, along with emails. I don't know if this dates the series or not, though.
Scarab Dynasty - March 22, 2006 02:47 PM (GMT)
If Mark has a dartboard, you have to wodner why he doesn't practise his aiming more, huh? :P
hyperpsychomaniac - March 23, 2006 05:07 AM (GMT)
Nice Rotgut. :D Do tell me if you see any signs that might mean something, will ya? ;) (is obsessed).
Scarab, if you mean Mark should try using his dart board for practice with his wrist cannon, I doubt it's going to last very long. :P
Scarab Dynasty - April 16, 2006 07:55 PM (GMT)
He doesn't have to actually use the cannon ON the dartboard, darts would do :P
Didn't Sarah point out the picture on the inside of mark's locker season one of a person with a lock over their mouths? I expect that means something.

Actually, I don't know about that... it always looked arther blocky on their screens, to me. Though they do have full animation while we make do with comic-book style clip scenes.
Rotgut - August 15, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
I've decided to restart this from scratch to look a bit more indepth.
Episode 1
*That car that drives by has no driver or license plate.
*The longue window look's like it is open - in this weather!
*Notice how Mark's ace game is much different from the released version?
*Notice there are stars in the sky above the carnival.
*There is a sword beside Ace when he is hit by Lady Illusion. Perhaps another lightning knight came and was defeated - Sparx?
*There is a nice collection of killing blades on the left wall beside Ace.
*Mark has a lot of lamps in his room. Other items in his room are several footballs, a England supporter scarf, a printer, a pair of boots, a globe and a british flag.
*Mark has a Ace lightning mousemat.
*The portal looks like sunlight reflecting on water.
*If you have widescreen, during the first fight between Ace and Fear, when Pigface goes flying behind the tree, he actually freezes in midair.
*In the scene with the Hollanders in the kitchen, there is a mini lighthouse by the sink.
*Duff's trailer is highly decorated on the outside, and even has a sign that reads: "Please respect our sterile environment, thankyou".
*Mark has a rather big footbal collection.
*Mark has a 3D non-smoking sign on his wall.
*In Mark's closet is several coats and bags, the robot that gets burnt and a well packed washing basket.
*Fiona's voice at the door sounds like it was added in post-production.
*The Hollanders like in Number 200.
*Simon's car lincense plate is BRT480.
*Notice Samantha's hairstyle is completely different from the rest of the series.
*The bus scene features several kids, a girl sitting next to a foregin asian kid looks like a younger form of Felicity Fury.
*What a bunch of unfair people, all the main kids get to take the bus while those two kids have to walk and scoot to school. Oh well, I guess they need the exercise.
*Mark's locker is 568.
*That girl who refuses to help Mark is very selfish.
*How can Ace have never seen a toilet before, how does he urine then in the Sixth Dimension?
*The geography teacher shown here is different from the one to appear in the future.
*I don't ger Ace and the computer clip, as he doesn't yet know he is from a game.
*Cheseborough's badge says "My way or the higway!"
*The girl next to Sam is Heather's friend, but is not featured again in the show.
*That guy next to Wayne looks like he has been struck by lightning...speaking of lightning notice there is a poster on it on the wall.
*I wish I had a big garden like Mark's. Everybody else in my family has big gardens, we have a puny one.
*When Ace enters the carnival, there is a yellow doghouse on the right.
Episode 2
*Pete is a thief, he stole a signpost to London on the A40!
*Do not try that website address on top of Pete's page, it doesn't work.
*That garden gnome looks miserable beyong belief.
*Simon's mobilelawnmower was made by some guy called John Deere.
*So much violence between parents hey. :P
*Mark has several books on his bed - one appears to be about playing cards. Adn why does he have three sets of clippers?
*Mark's cupboard features a rolled up carpet in it.
*I thought they were going to mall first and then the carnival?
*What does that poster on the wall say - "Warrooms for customers only"...why would customers want to go into a war room for?
*There is a work bench in the haunted house.
*Mark talks about decoys in the game - there are no decoy parts in the game!
*Notice in Pigface's picture in the book he has hair.
*Ace calls Mark Mario - whether or not this is a reference to the character is beyond me.

During Chesbrough's Alien Abduction Support Group meeting? It was because those two dog catcher guys Random threatened in the first ep of that series were there. :P
hyperpsychomaniac - August 18, 2006 10:26 AM (GMT)
