Title: The Games
Description: Guide to the trio of Ace games!
Rotgut - September 28, 2005 09:14 AM (GMT)
This is from Hyperpsychomaniac's suggestions of the differences between the games.
The PC Version
The PC Version was the original. All the characters are in it from season one, except Sparx only appears in the beginning story and the credits!
There are 10 levels and one final boss fight. Some areas of the levels are completely accessible from the start, and don't need to be activated by Lightning Buttons.
The voice actors are not the same from the tv show, but impersonators. You should hear how much Ace's new voice actor sounds like the Michael Riley.
The levels are:
*Googler's Big Top
*Ring of Fear (Circus Ring Level)
*Circus Walkways (High-platform Level)
*Lord Fear's Big Gun (Cannon Level)
*Googler Battle (Boss Fight)
*House of Illusion
*Horror Hedgemaze (Maze Level)
*Freaky Funhouse (Funhouse Level)
*Lady Illusion Battle (Boss Fight)
*Cowboy Crossroads
*Nevershine Mine (Mine Level)
*Ghost Canyon (Cowboy Level)
*Crazy Grave Maze (Graveyard Level)

*Fire Moat Fort (Lava Level)
*Tumbledown Tower (Level-climbing Level)
*Random Virus Battle (Boss Fight)
*Haunted House
*Lord Fear/Lady Illusion/Pigface/Anvil Battle (Final Boss Fight)
The Gameboy Advance Version
The gameboy advance version is a intersting There are twelve levels:
*Ghost Train (Googler)
*Tunnel of Love (Lady Illusion)
*Fortune Teller (Dirty Rat)
*Adventure Alley (Pigface)
*Waxworks (Pigface)
*Puppet Show (Googler)
*Carousel (Pigface)
*Circus (Anvil)
*Hall of Mirrors (Lady Illusion)
*Log Flume (Anvil)
*Funhouse (Dirty Rat)
*House of Horrors (Lord Fear, Lady Illusion, Anvil, Pigface)
An interesting feature is that while travelling to different attractions, Anvil, Rat, Pigface or Lady Illusion will randomly appear and fight you.
This is the only game that has mini-games and where you can play as Sparx! :D
The mini-games are made a shooting gallery and test-your-strength where you must try and hit the bell in three turns. If you fail, Ace lobs the hammer into the air, but then gets clobbered by it.
PS2 Version
The best of the trio. The Ps2 version has two extra levels:
*Drab Dungeon
*Drop Down Well
The graphics are good and I've only experienced one wacky glitch in the final battl when Ace fell through the floor with Pigface and ended up running around in a endless void, being chased by a crazy pig.
Enemies
Ace Lightning has got the most wackiest and most cleverly designed villains in any game I've seen.

Whee! Thank you! :D
Damn, you get to play as Sparx in the GBA version!!! :o I've actually played the first level on a friends computer, they'd downloaded the version for the GBA emulator. It was actually kindof hard (though that may have just been because the emulator controls are backwards of the GBA console controls...). And I wanna see Ace bashing himself on the head with a mallet!! :D
Glitch with Ace falling into a void? Sure you didn't find oblivion, RG? :o ;) Yeah, PS2 version is pretty good. Did you also notice that when you stand Ace on a slanted edge he'll sometimes overbalance? You have to see it to see how funny it is!! (Cost me a life too, was overbalanced and got attacked by something  ) Also, if you stand him still for about a minute, he'll start cleaning his boots on the floor, and then fix his hair. :D (Okay, yeah, I played it a little too much.)
Thanks again. *covets GBA version*

Yes! That's it! He found oblivion! :P *mental image of Ace running around the void "Um... can you stop trying to eat me for five seconds and see if you can find the world again?")
Rotgut - September 28, 2005 06:07 PM (GMT)
Ace once sat "Does this superhero suit make me look fat?" in the PS2 game.
Scarab Dynasty - September 28, 2005 06:12 PM (GMT)
*cracks up* *then feels even more depressed*. :( what other cool lines am I missing? And does the PS2 version of the game run the back-story clips in comic strip form like the PC version?

Join the club. Sarah and I both have/had the same defective version. I wonder if there was a faulty batch?
Rotgut - September 29, 2005 09:33 AM (GMT)
Yes and I don't know!
Here are some other funny and cool lines from the PS2 game:
"I want and Ace Sandwich"--Pigface
"I'll molitcate ya, Ace!"--Anvil
"NOOOO FAIR!"--Googler
"Why try to hit me, when you can kiss me..."--Lady Illusion
"Argh!"--Male enemies when killed.
"You're lightning powers are no match for the power of Rat!"--Dirty Rat
"Looks like George has a crush on you, Rat"--Ace to Rat.
"I'll get you next time, pretty boy!"--Googler to Ace.
"Say goodbye Ace Lightning, you superhero scum!"--Lord Fear to Ace.
"Say your prayers, geronimo!"--Giant George Wayne.
"You are not my friend, I have no friends!"--Random to Ace.
"Lightning Juice! I can feel to power!"--Ace
hyperpsychomaniac - September 29, 2005 10:51 AM (GMT)
:o I didn't hear the looking fat line!!! Which level was it he said that in?!? *dies*
I thought the Random Virus level was kindof funny. Everytime Ace hit the guy he'd apologise (I'm sure I lost at least once from laughing). And I think I also remember one of Random's lines being something about 'Not the actions of a friend!' when Ace blasted him. Scary logic there.
Scarab Dynasty - September 29, 2005 12:57 PM (GMT)
I hope Ace doesn't have a quickfire option *BLAST"sorry"BLAST"sorry"BLAST"sorry"BLAST"sorryBLAST"sorryBLAST"sorryBLAST"sorryBLAST"sorry"
hyperpsychomaniac - September 29, 2005 01:21 PM (GMT)
Wouldn't work on Random. :P You have to use a rebounded shot to hurt him, and they get increasingly hard to do. ... Although I have got blasting minions down to a fine artform. If you hold down the fire button, the lightning lance will blast at a certain pace, but if you press it at just the right timing, you can make it work slightly quicker. :D (Hopefully it is not possible to burn out its circuits or equivilant by doing so :P )
I believe some of those lines are:
'Sorry old pal.'
And something along the lines of the 'this hurts me more than you' type line.
Scarab Dynasty - September 29, 2005 02:28 PM (GMT)
So rebounded shot... is that the same as the method in the TV show? When Ace reflects the attack with the Sheild of Justice?
'This hurts me more than you"... how cute :D but i bet it doesn't. :P
hyperpsychomaniac - September 29, 2005 02:43 PM (GMT)
Sort of. You don't actually get a shield of justice. On Random's level there are all these medevil type shields sitting up there and you have to use them. But they start spinning when you hit them, and i think the wind up on the tower sets them off too. So it gets increadibly hard, as they have to be facing Random's direction otherwise they just bounce of nowhere.
Scarab Dynasty - September 29, 2005 02:44 PM (GMT)
Yes I recall tricky levels like that on several games. Is the shield of justice available at all?
hyperpsychomaniac - September 29, 2005 02:50 PM (GMT)
Nope. Your main weapon is the Lightning Lance, which you can kill enemies with. You can also punch or charge them. And when the Lightning Lance is out of power, you can use the wrist cannons, but they only stun, but that's handy, cus then they baddies are easier to hit.
Also you can collect little lightning power ups, when you have enough the Lightning Lance uses a 'stream attack' which fires lightning continuously, instead of in bursts and also stuns. And actually you also pick up little shields of justice, when you have enough you can put up an energy shield which lasts for like 15 secs. But you don't get it as a weapon.
Scarab Dynasty - September 29, 2005 08:56 PM (GMT)
I did remember getting about five minutes out of my PC version and I do remember the bad guys just freezing when I used the wrist cannons... not that I had enough time to work out the rest of the controls <_<
Rotgut - September 30, 2005 09:41 AM (GMT)
If you are having trouble with controls, I suggest you configure some of them, switching the lightning bolts to space bar and jump to enter. That's what I did.
Random's boss fight is even harder than Lord Fear's battle. The shields start spinning because you've hit them and then the wind spins them about and you have to wait to they slow down. Random has about 12 hits until shutdown, so I suggest you hit one shield, hurt Random and then dodge the fireballs by jumping, but it is best to be watching Random at the same time, so you know when the fireballs are coming. They can be aimed upward too, so be careful. When you are ready to hurt Random again, look for the spinning shield and use the one next to it, but the shield must be directly facing Random. Keep doing this and then start the process again when all 11 shields have stopped spinning and hit any of them and Random is history.
If you thought Random's boss battle was tough, Lady Illusion will wipe the floor with you. She did that with me for... 7-9 months! You're in a giant room (which my guess is the funhouse's attic) with white walls and weird circular things all over the place. There is a giant crystal ball in the middle of the room, where the Amulet piece floats. Lady Illusion works like this:
1. She appears on one of the platforms that looks like those red and white sweets.
2. She hurls a bomb at you.
3. She vanishes and starts again.
Dodge the bombs, but collect the lightnings energy balls that are left behind. Use the target trajectory thing to target Lady Illusion and fire at her while she is creating her crystal ball. She will be injured and teleport into the crystal ball, and then the worst part arrives. What should fall out of the black ceiling but an enormous six to eight foot high Black Widow Spider wearing a cowboy hat! Now just run, scream and fire like crazy until it dies.
Lady Illusion will do her bit again. Blast her, as she moves faster and this time to "itsy-bitsy" spiders will come down to have lunch. Luckily, they appear on opposite sides of the room and can easily be defeated. It is pretty funny when they tumble over backwards and shriek.
The third time round, three spiders appear, with one corner left free. Defeat the one nearest to you and then just start running about the room, punching or blasting the nearest spider.
And then the fourth time round, oh the hell with it all! You know what's coming! Four spiders! Now you know how a fly feels! :(
Anyway, the best way to kill the four spiders is to just run about, stands on the opposite side of the giant crystal ball as protection and then lure on out at a time and exterminate them! Muhahahaha! If you get surrounded by the spiders, be sure to have a Shield of Justice or Lightning Stream ready.
Just keep doing this until Lady Illusion bites the dust.
Googler's battle is simple, but can be tricky. Googler rolls about the small room, lobbing classic bombs at Ace. Ace is forbidden to fire lightning bolts or punch Googler. So you must freeze Googler with lightning bolts and then blow up the closest keg of dyanmite near him. Be sure not to get caught in the explosion. Do this repeatedly and Googler is googlerized.
Rat's battle is easiest by far. I completed it in about a minute. All you have to do is dodge Giant George and freeze the Rat, who has a shield. Giant George should spot you and run at you, but trip and crush poor Rat. Do this until Rat collapses. Giant George gets so stressed out, that he falls to pieces, literally.
I think I'll leave the Lord Fear fight to Hyperpsychomaniac to describe. Don't forget about using the stocks as a shield.
hyperpsychomaniac - October 1, 2005 11:59 AM (GMT)
I didn't actully find LI's battle quite that tricky. It is difficult to dodge the spiders. The trick is not to get cornered by them and to try take on only one at a time.
Random's battle is difficult. Even after I'd figured out the tact you had to use it was very hard. Another tip with the shields, if they're spinning, just hit one anyway, it'll usually slow it down enough that it may be possible to use it. Though you may have to blast a few until they stop in the right spot. And I think I may disagree with you on the trying to watch Random bit, RG. If you have to stop moving to look at Random, then DON'T DO IT. He will get you if you stop. But it is a good idea to try and keep and eye on him in the corner of your screen or something. But don't stop. ;)
LF level... Basically, you have to defeat Lord Fear. Unfortunately he has a shield. This obviously really sucks. You can't hit him. On top of this he sends down Pigface and Anvil to fight you. They run around and try to smash and/or eat you. So, the best tactic is to run around like a headless chicken and kill them. Once they die Lord Fear jumps down from the top floor and has to revive them. But while he does this he has to drop his shield. This is when you have to hit him. But you only have a few seconds to do this, which is made difficult if you have been running around like a headless chicken, because your not always in a good position to blast him. On top of that LI comes in and starts throwing bombs. As you hit Fear more often, how she throws them stuffs up your chances of hitting Fear even more. And, if I remember correctly, there is no extra health lying around.
Think that about covers it...
Rotgut - October 1, 2005 06:27 PM (GMT)
You'd think Lord Fear would not be able to leap off the balcony like that, with his limp and all.

Evilness seems to burn quite well. :P
Kilobyte - October 21, 2005 09:32 AM (GMT)
The level "Freaky Fun House' is so incredibly long! I almost one the level, if it hadn't been for a computer glitch!
Rotgut - October 21, 2005 02:29 PM (GMT)
I know what you mean, Kilobyte. That is the hardest level in the game, in my opinion and it took me neally seven months to wipe the floor with Lady Illusion!
Kilobyte - October 22, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
That's not good news for me! It took me 5 hours just to reach Lady illusion's Door! What am I going to do?
Rotgut - October 22, 2005 10:10 AM (GMT)
Number 1: Stay calm.
Number 2: The best way to stay alive, and complete the level with 9 lives. You can get lives from around the funhouse or collect the ones from the second circus level or the secret one behind the moving Lord Fear head in the foyer.
Scarab Dynasty - October 22, 2005 10:12 AM (GMT)
Rpotgut's firest comment is very good advise
If I run out of lives and have to start a level again, I usually find myself going basck to the Walkway's in googler's circus to snag some more lives. That was I don't have to start the funhouse with Zero, though it does take a bit of time to buildf up your lives, it's better than starting again and getting yet another game over.
Where's that head in the foyer, Rotgut?
Rotgut - October 23, 2005 09:40 AM (GMT)
Please explain Scarab?
Scarab Dynasty - October 23, 2005 11:18 AM (GMT)
*sigh*
If you run out of lives in the game you have to go right back to the start of that level - and even worse you don't get the lives you lost back whih makes it harder to complete the level when you try again - so I go back to googler's circus and snag some lives before I take on the level again.
You said that Lord Fear's head was in a foyer and there was a hidden life around it- what the heck were you talking about?
Rotgut - October 23, 2005 06:39 PM (GMT)
Oh right, that head. :P Silly me!
When you next go on the game, run straight towards the Haunted House, but turn right. Jump on the little tent thingy, then jump on the caravans next to it. Jump onto the back of the haunted house and turn around. There is a platform with a heart on it. This is very useful.
Scarab Dynasty - October 23, 2005 07:10 PM (GMT)
Excellent :D thanks. I don't suppose that, by some sheer stroke of luck, it reappears every time you leave the level and come back?
Rotgut - October 23, 2005 07:19 PM (GMT)
Uh? I don't know? :ph43r:
Scarab Dynasty - October 23, 2005 07:22 PM (GMT)
Well I'll find out myself them. Thanks anyway.
hyperpsychomaniac - October 24, 2005 05:15 AM (GMT)
Scarab! Reseting life items counts as cheating! :P
Scarab Dynasty - October 24, 2005 06:02 PM (GMT)
it does?... oh, bugger...
What about just tyring to make up for lost lives? That's legal, right?
Rotgut - October 25, 2005 08:38 AM (GMT)
Don't swear! I will have to spank you for that! I won't get involved in this argument.
FeArdantane - October 25, 2005 10:39 AM (GMT)
Spanking? If there is any spanking to be done I shall do it. :P
Anyway, technically collecting lives like that is cheating, though as logn as it is kept down to a sensible number I don't think it matters.
Scarab Dynasty - October 25, 2005 04:56 PM (GMT)
...You know I'm starting to think that there's NOTHING Knights can do! Evils must have more fun... :(

This is Ace Lightning, folks, take it to the general discussion area. You're giving me bad flashbacks already...
