- Elara and her younger sister, Nola, built Dark Haven on a powerful nexs which boosts their abilities. They placed a spell on the entire property which protects all witches and their guests while they remain on the property. However, this spell is not flawless. Elara and Nola have several times had to protect their home and their students. No one is sure if the sisters let these demons in or not, but very few people have died at the school.
Their parents died just as they were coming into their powers, and therefore had to learn on their own without guidance; except for a few books they found in the attic of their old home.
They decided that it was unfair for any witch to have to do this alone. That is when they decided to build Dark Haven.
Their story is in all Books of Shadows, all witches know of Dark Haven's and the sisters' existences. The sisters welcome most who come to their door for aid, but it is primarily The Gates who admits members.
