Don't come in if you don't work here...
Mel Pearce - May 19, 2007 04:25 PM (GMT)
Mel unlocks the door to his office. He knew he didn't really need to lock it. If a demon wanted to get in to destroy the place, it would. But it still gave him some sense of security. He plops down in his chair and brings his computer back from sleep mode. Still no email from Matt. Well, hopefully he will be here soon. His lips quark to the side, having his doubts. THe email he'd received from the Elemental a week or so ago sounded as if he really wanted the job. Let's hope so. I wouldn't mind having the Earth Element as a bartender. HE grins, knowing how fun that could be. Between the tow of them? An I*llusionist Gypsy and the Earth Element. He chuckles a little. Don't get your hopes up. He could be the most incompitent fool oyu'll ever meet. But then, I suppose he wouldnt' be the Earth Element, now, would he? Mel's mind wanders as he pulls out one of his large, leatherbound ledgers and begins reviewing what he needs to order for the upcoming festivities.
Moments later, he feels the earth shake a bit beneath him. His brows furrow. We don't get earthqaukes here . . . Then he hears the front doors open. Ah. Mel knows that his appointment is here. Gets up from his chair and heads out to the bar to greet him.
Matthew - May 19, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
Slowly approaching the office, Matt pulls a hand a little nervously through his hair. He’d spent all his energies on getting here that he hadn’t even thought about what sort of things he’d say. Hopefully things Mel will want to hear. Taking a brief moment to catch his breath, all the running having taken it out of him, Matt exhales slowly. (Right, here goes nothing…) “Knock, Knock” The Earth Elemental calls out in a joking manner as he pokes his head through the door. “I hope I’m not late…” (Thank the Gods; I think I’ve just made it)
Mel Pearce - May 19, 2007 11:53 PM (GMT)
Just as Mel opens his office door, he steps back quickly when he sees Matt poke his head into his office. "Hey! Come on in. You must be Matthew," He says, moving back, but extending his hand. "I'm Melbourne Pearce. But you can call me Mel." He waits for Matt to enter the office. "Have a seat." He gestures to one of the large leather chairs in his office. "THe roads bad?" He asks, noting the time. Judging by Matthew's flushed skin and slight panting, he had not driven.
Matthew - May 20, 2007 03:33 PM (GMT)
“Hi” Matthew greets Mel by taking the offered hand. His cold fingers wrap around the older man’s and shake gently before retreating back to the Element’s side. He takes the indicated seat, sitting up straight and alert. His blonde locks still containing fallen snowdrops, he can do nothing but curse the weather. If it wasn’t for that, he might have remembered about his interview and he might have been able to get here a little faster. Running along cold, icy ground is not a good idea at all. (Stupid snow, I hate it…)
“Well Mel it is then…” Matthew says with a toothy grin. “You can call me Matt, Matthew, Matty, or whatever other cookie nicknames you can come up with. It’s all good…” He says lightly, trying to break the ice a little. (I hope Jon’s not mad for me up and leaving like that…I had to but, I couldn’t miss this…)
As Mel enquires about the roads, Matt’s eye twitches a little. He knows exactly the underlying thought behind this question – why is he late? However, instead of explaining that he’d forgotten about his interview, thinking that would be a bad way to start the meeting, Matthew just tip toes around the question. “Yeah, you know what it’s like when the roads get icy; everyone drives like they’re 90 and drunk.” He replies, quoting what his fiery lover had said to him just moments before he had to leave. (Well, I’m not lying technically…he never said did you drive and is that why you’re late?)
Mel Pearce - May 21, 2007 06:16 PM (GMT)
Mel grins as Matt speaks. He makes his way back to his own leather chair behind his desk. A sweet-talkier. I could use one of those on my staff. He observes. Matt probably knew that this was all a test. At least, if he'd ever been to any other interview, he would. He seemed fairly composed, but so does the duck on a pond. Mell chuckles at the opening Matt had left him with his name. "I'll have to remember that," he comments, a twinkle in his eyes. As he sits, he notes that Matt didn't answer quite as he'd expected. He's got his witts about him. Good. He leans back in his chair, indicating to Matt that he should at least try and feel comfortable in the man's presence. For now.
"So, Matt," his lip twinges, wanting to smile as Mel's mind begins to formulate some . . . Interesting names for the Elemental. "What kind of experience do you have with bars and clubs?" He asks, getting into the interview. He had something else planned, but that could wait.
Matthew - May 23, 2007 05:33 PM (GMT)
Matt begins to relax a little more as Mel takes a seat. His shoulders come down a little into a more comfortable position and his back curves in somewhat of a slouching manner. It’s not overly relaxed, he still looks rather alert and attentive, but his nerves have cleared up quite a bit. (Goddess, I haven’t left it open for him to call me something ridiculous have I? I mean there is a limit to the wackiness, I do want to have some respect…)
With a toothy grin, Matthew listens to the Gypsy’s question. He’d expected it would be a question of such, it’s not like it’s his first interview or anything. “Well…” He starts, pulling a hand through his hair, neatening it up a little. “My last job was at a Bar/Restaurant, where I did quite a bit of work at the bar – managing the till, mixing and serving drinks etc…I worked there for quite awhile. I also bartended at a club for a bit in L.A, but it shut down so I didn’t really stay there for that long. I did everything they asked of me though…other than that though, not much” The Earth Elemental explains, realizing that his experience might not be enough to secure him the job. “Unless you count clubbing experience – that I’ve done a lot” He jokes, now feeling his nerves return.
Mel Pearce - May 24, 2007 01:08 AM (GMT)
Mel nods as Matt tells him what he did. The typical stuff he was expecting, stuff that had been on his resume. It was the disabled thing that had secured him the interview. In truth, he'd been the only one to apply for the bartenders job. So far he'd only received one other application, and that was for the bouncer. The name sounded familiar, but he wasn't sure from where.
Mel comes out of his thoughts at Matt's last comment. He grins, then chuckles. "Well, I suppose that'll give you plenty of experience from a customer's point of view." He comments wit ha grin. Mel was glad for that. He didn't want someone working for him that didn't enjoy the environment and know what it was like to be a customer waiting for a drink. He just didn't want the type that would horse around all night and not do actual work. He didn't think Matt would have a problem with that.
"What kind of official training do you have for food handling and beverage serving?" Mel preferred to have knowledgable and trained staff, but wasn't opposed to doing the training himself if necessary. Kids had to start somewhere, right? He glances at the door, thinking for just a moment, then focuses back on Matt. Meanwhile, he activates his power of Illision.
Illusion - May 24, 2007 01:39 AM (GMT)
The demon slowly approaches the door, listening in on the conversation. He grins, his white, though broken and misaligned teeth gleeming in what little light the club has to offer. He slowly opens the door and grins wickedly at Mel, completely ignoring Matthew. "Thought you'd get away, huh, Mellie, my boy?" His face turns from the playful grin to a more serious note. "You still owe me a favour!" He exclaims, jumping forward onto Mel's desk. He then just as quickly jumps down and grabs Mel by the throat, lifting him from his chair. The demon, a good foot and a half taller than the already six-foot-two Mel, lifts the owner off the floor about eight inches.
"It's time to collect." The demon sneers, peering up into Mel's eyes with a purely crazed lookedin his own eyes.
Mel Pearce - May 24, 2007 01:48 AM (GMT)
Mel's brows furrow slightly at the faiant sounds coming from the bar beyond the dance floor. When the approach even closer, he moves to rise, but stops half way when a familiar face enters the room. "Lucrious . . . "He breathes, not quite believing his eyes. Before the Gypsy has time to react, Luc is over the desk and at his throat. Mel's feet dangle beneath him, his large hand encircling the demon's wrists to try and alleviate some of the preassure caused by the hands. "I . . . . I . . . . " He tries to choke the words out, but is unable due tothe preassure on his larynx.
His eyes flash desperately towards Matthew. Do something.
Matthew - May 27, 2007 03:36 PM (GMT)
Just about to answer the Gypsy’s question, Matt’s attention is entirely drawn onto the demon, his voice alerting him to his presence. (Demon!) The thought goes off like an alarm in the Earth Element’s head even before the creature lunges for Mel. Matthew jumps to his feet, watching helplessly as Luc pounces on Mel, picking him up by his throat. (I’ve got to help him!)
Matt’s eyes look up at the demon with fear. He’s tall, even for a tall person he’s tall, and Matt, well he could be considered rather short. Nether the less, he has to act, Matt knows that. What’s the point in being blessed with the abilities he has if he’s not going to defend people that need defending?
Seeing the desperation in Mel’s eyes, Matt burst out into a chant. His words rhyming off a spell to vanquish the demon in the heat of the moment, dreadfully hoping it will be a success.
“The Demon has the upper hand
Make this not the case
Vanquished be, I command
Erase him from time and space!”
Illusion - May 28, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
Luc thrusts a hand towards Matt in attempt to throw him against the wall, but his spell takes affect quickly and his body is enveloped in a purpley mist and slowly disappears, leaving Mel suspended in the air to fall the short distance to the floor of the office.
Mel Pearce - May 28, 2007 04:27 PM (GMT)
Mel's eyes glint a little as Matt says the spell. Not entirely what he was hoping for, but it'll do. The boy could think on his feet. As the illusion fades with Matt's spell, Mel prepares himself for the sudden contact with the floor. He falls to his knees, catching himself with one hand, the other on his throat. It may have only been an illusion, but it still hurt, "Nice . . . " He clears his throat. "Nice work, Matt." He says as he gets up to his feet. He walks over to where Matt stands and extends a hand out to him.
"Welcome aboard. You start tonight." He grins, his eyes telling Matt that what had just happened was only a test, and he'd passed.
Matthew - May 30, 2007 11:22 AM (GMT)
Matthew watches the demon disappear with relief filled eyes. Demon attacks are not his thing, he doesn’t like them one bit. But they are a part of his life and he knows that. (Why can’t life always be sunshine and bunnies?) The blonde moans internally as he tries to help Mel up to his feet.
"Welcome aboard. You start tonight."
(That was a test!? WHAT!?) Matt’s thoughts come across venomously, though his face forces a wide toothy grin to emerge. He can’t believe Mel would do something like that, to conjure or project, whatever power he used, a demon like that. It could have been dangerous and Matt feels like a total fool. He does however bite his tongue, deciding that he got the job and that is all that matters.
“Thank you. What time would you like me here for?”
Mel Pearce - May 31, 2007 02:32 PM (GMT)
Mel notes the rather fake smile Matt gives him. He realizes that the Illusion may not have been a good idea, but he had to find out how Matt would react to a situation like that. Mel was able to control things to a degree, but the odd demon did break though. He offers Matt another smile, hopefully conveying his apology. But he wouldn't say anything. Matt would need to bring it up before he would explain why he did what he did. "We open at nine, but I'd like to go over some things with you. So eight o'clock sound good?" He asks, not really expecting a negative answer. Who would say no to their new boss, right?
Matthew - June 1, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
Matt simply gives a nod in reply to Mel’s enquiry. He’s hardly going to say that he can’t come for eight, no matter what he may have planned to get up to with Jonathon tonight; it’s his first day of a new job, he’ll need to make a good impression. “Yeah, I’ll see you then” Matthew says, exiting the room and heading towards the front entrance.
Mel Pearce - June 5, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
"Great, I'll leave the door unlocked for you." He smiles and walks Matt to the entrance.
Mel Pearce - February 8, 2008 06:16 PM (GMT)
Mel moves into the office opening his door and leaving it open. He moves to the thermostate for the club. He sets the thing and a soft hum starts. A warm breeze starting to move through the fans of the ceiling. The place is quite chilly, he should have left the heat on. He pulls off his jacket and places it on the coat rack. He moves to his desk and decides to get some paper work down first.
Matthew MacFhionnan - May 25, 2008 02:48 AM (GMT)
As his fingured curled up into a fist butterflies shot through his stomach, he was nervious as hell about his first day of work. He worked in thousands of bars before but this one would be different, he felt different. He wasn't the same guy a few hours ago, no he was completely different yet completely the same. He was Matthew the bartender, Matther the lover, Matther the chosen one. It was just a lot going through his mind, but he was going to make the best of his first day.
Knocking on the wooden door, his lips parted to free his voice. "Mel. It's me Matthew." He knocked one more time, hoping that his boss was indeed in the room and not some demon. He was praying that it wasn't going to be another one of his tricks or test like before, that shit scared the fucking daylights out of him.
Mel Pearce - May 28, 2008 02:32 PM (GMT)
Mel looks up hearing the knock on his door and it couldn't have been anyone then Matthew. He checks his watching thinking, right on time. Smart kid, he thinks to himself as he rises from his chair. Placing the papers and things into a pile and then into a locked drawer. He closes it hearing the successful click of the lock. He moves around his desk to the door. He takes the knob and opens it. "On time, have to say I'm quite surprise." He says as he opens the door wider for him.
"Just may have the balls to work here after all." He says.
Matthew MacFhionnan - May 30, 2008 03:45 PM (GMT)
Matthews awkward stance, clearly gave away the nerviousness he felt inside his stomach. Trying to suppress the feeling his mind had begun to dwell about the big party that was going to be taking place tonight. It was going to be his first day or work, and the last time he actually made a drink was about three weeks ago. Let’s just hope bartending is like riding a bike. Once you start peddling it all comes right back. A warm smile soon spread across his face as he saw the door creep open, to reveal the aged man behind it.
“Wouldn’t dream of being late the first day but the second might be a different case.” He said as he gave a soft chuckle as he stepped to the side, to give Mel room to pass by and take the lead. Matthew that was so stupid. Why did you even say something like that. He took a deep breath as he refocused on Mel as he spoke up once again.
“Shouldn’t be too hard as long as the demons stay at bay.” After the whole elemental ordeal about having to work with evil, he prayed to the gods that nothing was going to go down. He just needed tonight to be a carefree, fight free, and stress free night. I hope John and Nena come. I’m sure they could use a little bit of R and R.
Mel Pearce - June 4, 2008 04:07 PM (GMT)
Mel chuckles at the man's presense. He looks as if he is about to go to war, he wonders what is going through the boy's mind. If he is even really for this, it will be something if tonight of all nights that the place decides to be pack. He shuckles once again and nods to the young elemental. He raises an eyebrow at his words and speaks up. "We'll see about that." He says as he steps past him.
He turns and looks at him. He laughs slightly at his words and have to agree. Though most demons stay clear of this district unless they are hunting for a kill. He shakes his head for a moment. "If so do your job, your true one that is. Vanquish him then get back to work." He says before moving towards the bar.
Matthew MacFhionnan - June 9, 2008 03:43 PM (GMT)
The dirty blonde haird man just grinned as his boss walked pass, giving clear instructions about what to do about demons. Vanquishing one shouldn't be too hard, as long as it wasn't Lavena. He picked up his feet and followed after Mel heading towards the bar.
